Town responds to end of hunger strike

The Town responded to the announcement that “Peaceful Warriors of New Tecumseth” spokesperson, Joe Feiner, ended his hunger strike on April 25, during the April 26 Council meeting.
Mr. Feiner positioned himself at the west side street entrance at the New Tecumseth Administration Centre for two weeks to bring awareness to his group’s opposition to the planned new Administration Centre as well as other issues in the Town.
“We are thankful to hear that Joe is back home and is taking care of himself and his health,” said New Tecumseth Mayor Rick Milne. “There have been previous opportunities for public input and there will be another opportunity for Joe and other residents to speak to the proposed new Town Hall project through the established process of the Committee of the Whole and Council meetings.”
The Mayor welcomed residents who are opposed to the public to attend the June 14 Council meeting.
Persons wishing to speak at the Council meeting can do so by registering via the Town’s website or by calling the Town Clerk’s office.
“All the information and reports about the proposed project are available on the Town’s website,” Mayor Milne said.
The “Peaceful Warriors” are a group who are opposed to the building of the new Administration Centre, saying there are other, more immediate concerns that money should be directed toward.
