The smell of savoury ribs cooking over a barbecue will fill the air during the 5th annual Alliston Ribfest.
This event is filled with fun, family-friendly food and a music festival to add to the party mood.
The Ribfest will feature four top North American Rib Teams including Camp 21 BBQ, Brickyard BBQ, Uncle Sam’s BBQ, and Sticky Fingers BBQ.
In addition to the great food options, there will be free hot air balloon rides on Saturday (weather permitting). There will also be a midway and a marketplace featuring local vendors.
On Saturday, there will be Live Pro Wrestling featuring a Ribfest rumble at 2:30 p.m.
“It’s really the ‘World Series’ of barbecue,” said Alliston Ribfest organizer Rick Brooks of the Ontario Festival Group. “We’ve organized Ribfest events throughout Ontario since 2013, and this being our 10th season, we have branded as Ribfest X. By creating an unforgettable experience for families and their friends we help create joyful memories, especially for people who, because of work or other reason, are unable to get out of the city over summer weekends, while supporting local communities and charitable causes.”
There will be a full line-up of music all weekend long.
On Friday night, Alliston’s own Nicole Rayy and True Rodeo, a Tribute to Blue Rodeo, will take the stage. On Saturday, there will be ‘Rock Music Night’ featuring Bob Marley and The Hip tributes, and local standouts, Your New Neighbours.
On Sunday, there will be tributes to Fleetwood Mac and Tom Petty.
Ontario Festival Group has chosen to support Football Ontario whose mission is to advocate, preserve, and grow the game of football by reducing barriers through developing and promoting teams, athletes, coaches, and referees. The organization does this by fundraising to support high school and elementary school football sports teams with uniforms, financial support, and encouragement to the young people involved.
The Ribfest will take place on Friday, June 7, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 8, from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, June 9, from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
