The Alliston Hornets remain tied in first place with the Stayner Siskins in the North Carruthers Division of the PJHL after losing to the Penetang Kings on Friday, Dec. 15, on Penetang home ice.

The Hornets were in trouble early in the game when they gave up three by the mid-way mark in the first period.

Clayson Goymour put the Hornets on the scoreboard with a goal with 46 seconds left in the period.

Goymour got his second of the night at 9:36 into the second period, but that’s all the Hornets could do for the night.

Penentang scored a final goal with less than a minute left on the clock in the third period to win the game 4-2.

Penetang was the upset team in this week’s round of games in the North Carruthers Division.

Going into the weekend, they were in sixth place with a 9-13-1 record.

They won 5-2 over the Stayner Siskins on Thursday (Dec. 14) night in Stayner before the Friday night win over Alliston.

After the weekend, the Hornets have 40 points and a 20-6 record. They are tied with the Siskins, who have an identical 40 points and a 20-6 record.

The Orillia Terriers are in third place with 34 points. They are followed by the Schomberg Cougars in the number four spot with 31 points.

Penetang moved up a notch to fifth place. Huntsville is in sixth place with 23 points, followed by Caledon with 21 points.

The Innisfil Spartans and the Midland Flyers are failing to launch this season. Innisfill has won only four games after 24 times on the ice. Midland has only two wins this season.

The Hornets will be back on home ice on Friday, Dec. 22, to host the Caledon Golden Hawks at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre.

Game time is 7:30.
