Last Thursday’s (Oct. 27) game between the New Tecumseth Civics and the Temiscaming Titans at the New Tecumseth was a pretty low scoring affair for a Greater Metro Hockey League game.
At the end of the night, the Civics went home with win number 15 behind them and a solid first place in the league standings.
The Civics have been averaging over six goals per game this season but they hit a wall when they met up with the Titans on Thursday night.
The New Tec team opened the scoring early in the first period with a single from Ben Smaha but that was it for the period.
Returning for the second frame, the only goal scored again came from the Civics when Danila Rybin found the back of the Titans’ net late in the period.
Temiscaming avoided the shutout when they scored at 1:29 into the final period and that was all the scoring for the night and the Civics left the ice with a 2-1 win.
The Titans came to the game as a .500 team in 14th place.
The win leaves the Civics as the only undefeated team in the league.
London is in second place with a 13-3 record. They are followed by Parry Sound in third spot with 25 points and Kingville in fourth place with 23 points.
The Civics will be back on home ice tonight (Thursday, Nov. 3) when they will host the Orangeville Ice Crushers. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
