Council acknowledges protest but declines to discuss

The fact that Beeton resident Joe Feiner is conducting a hunger strike and protest while chained to the New Tecumseth Administration Centre building didn’t enter into discussion during Monday night’s Town of New Tecumseth Council meeting.
The only reference to the protest occurred during opening remarks by Ward 6 Councillor Stephanie MacLellan.
“I would like to recognize New Tecumseth resident Joe Feiner who has embarked on a hunger strike, who is currently chained to our Administration Centre in an effort to make his and many other residents voices heard regarding our plans to build a new Administration Centre,” Councillor MacLellan said. “It’s a sad day when residents have to go to such extremes to feel heard. Joe, may you be protected and safe in your journey and may your voice be heard. To the Mayor and this Council, I ask how we are going to address this?”
The statement did not prompt further discussion on the matter at this meeting.
Mr. Feiner did appear before Council on March 29, to voice his opposition to the building of a new Administration Centre.
