Domino’s Alliston raises $35K in ‘All Day for Jordyn’ fundraiser

Domino’s Pizza Alliston hosted “All Day for Jordyn” Aug. 9, a one-day fundraising event during which one hundred per cent of all pizzas sales was donated to Jordyn Andrews and her family.
Jordyn, a 6-year-old Alliston resident, has been diagnosed with Autoimmune encephalitis, a rare and debilitating brain illness that causes alteration of consciousness, cognitive decline, seizures, and abnormal movements. As a result, her parents, Chris and Jen Andrews, have been unable to work, staying by their daughter’s side for months on end, while Jordyn receives treatment at SickKids Hospital.
“All Day for Jordyn was an amazing success,” said Matt Bolton, co-owner of Domino’s Alliston. “We were able to donate just under $35,000. Of which $13,100 was pizza sales, $4,100 was donations, and then the rest was matched generously by Michael Curran, President of Domino’s Pizza Canada.”
“The amount of people that came out to support this event was shocking,” added Rob Hiltz, co-owner. “In exchange for their contribution to our fundraiser, we provided our guests with entertainment thanks to MobileVibes, owned by Matt Potter, and a fire truck provided by the New Tecumseth Fire & Rescue Department, (manned by firefighters Hank, Chris, Chris, and Jamie).”
“We want to give a huge shout-out to all the volunteers from other stores that travelled well over two hours to help out,” said Bolton. “Also a big thank you to Jessie MacIsaac and Sarah Nichols who volunteered at the store to help control the crowds with completed orders.”
“The local business were also amazing,” added Hiltz. “All the banks ordered, and JJ’s Towing bought pizzas for the OPP, the hospital, and My Sister’s Place – the local women and children’s shelter. We had people travel from Orangeville all the way from Midland to help support Jordyn!”
Adding to the event was 92.1 MyFM, the local radio station, which broadcast live-to-air form the restaurant, and helped to promote the event in advance.
Stewart’s Baskets & Balloons provided a Hello Kitty balloon for Jordyn, and members of Town council and the mayor, Rick Milne, all attended sharing their lunch, and thoughts and prayers, with Jordyn.
“We really need to thank our Domino’s staff,” said Hiltz. “They have never experienced a day that busy and they did an amazing job! Matt and I are completely overwhelmed at the support and strength our community showed and we are proud and excited we were able to help Jordyn and the Andrews family.”
Proceeds from the event were presented to the Andrews on a separate occasion, and Jordyn – who was having a better day – was able to attend.
