The hockey season has wrapped up for another year.
Some teams have made the record books with championship wins, and other teams just had fun playing the game they love.
There are already plans to start evaluations and try-outs for next season, and before that happens it’s the perfect time to spend some time together as a team for one last party.
Here are some tips on how to plan your end-of-season team party.
First, you should determine a budget. Ensure everyone on the team is okay with the budget and aren’t surprised at the cost when it’s time to chip in their share.
Keep in mind, items that will add to the total like rentals, food, prizes, and possible insurance. You can keep costs down by hosting a potluck as this also reduces the burden on the party planners.
You can decide if you want your party to be an indoor or outdoor event.
Many arenas offer rooms or lounges big enough to hold a team party. Let the facility know your plans and work with them to reserve the room.
If you decide to host a private party at someone’s home, ensure proper safety and supervision at all times. This is especially important if you are having a pool party.
You can decide to have a party at a public park and enjoy the weather.
A slideshow of the season is always popular. You can work with the team to gather all of the photos and videos of the season. From pre-game hype to post-game pizza parties or bus rides, this is a great way to have some memories of the season.
Some teams use year-end parties to hand out awards to players and coaches.
There are all sorts of ways you can recognize people, from serious awards to more fun ones.
Some awards include the hardest worker, most improved player, or biggest jokester.
A team should recognize its coaches and volunteers who put in a lot of hard work to ensure a team has a successful season.
You should decide on a team gift for the coaching staff and any other volunteers who helped make the season possible. These people dedicate countless hours to sharing the love of the game and helping kids to have a positive experience.
A team party at the end of the season is a perfect way to celebrate a successful year on the ice.
