The Alliston Hornets continue to dominate the North Carruthers Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) after winning three more games this weekend.
The Hornets are undefeated after 24 games this season.
On Thursday, Dec. 12, the Hornets travelled to Stayner to take on the third-place Siskins.
It was a 2-1 Alliston game at the end of the first period.
Jax Bellwood scored the only goal of the second frame to make it a 3-1 game.
Bellwood and Ben Smith scored Alliston goals in the third period to give the Hornets a 5-1 win to start the week.
They were back at it the next night when they returned to the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre to host the Muskoka Bears.
The Bears are new to the League and arrived in Alliston as a team that has only won three games this season.
The Hornets set the tone of the game in the first period scoring seven unanswered goals to pretty much end the game before the teams returned for the second period.
Muskoka scored the only goal of the second period to avoid a shut-out.
Returning for the third period, Duncan Grube and Ben Smith each netted one Alliston goal to end the night with a 9-1 Alliston win.
The third game of the week had the Hornets in Midland to take on the Flyers.
The Midland team got the jump on the action in this game scoring three unanswered goals to lead the game.
It was the second period that saw the Hornets come alive after being surprised by the effort in the first period. The Hornets scored six unanswered goals in the second period, leading 6-3 with one period remaining.
Midland scored early in the third period, but the Hornets responded with two more to end the night with an 8-4 win.
After the weekend, the Hornets are in first place with 48 points – seven ahead of the second-place Orillia Terriers.
The Stayner Siskins are in third place with 36 points.
The Hornets will return to home ice at the NTRC on Friday, Dec. 20, when they will host the Stayner Siskins.
