It is approaching the half-way mark in the regular season for the senior division of the North Dufferin Baseball League and some front runners have emerged to lead the League this year.
The season has seen some exciting baseball this year with the weather cooperating to make good playing conditions as well as comfortable viewing for fans who come out to cheer on their teams.
Teams have had some solid support this season with plenty of fans in the stands to watch the games.
The Ivy Rangers are currently in first place in the standings, winning ten of 12 games played so far this season. The Ivy team last won the Strother Cup in 2018.
In second place, the defending champion Bolton Brewers have a 7-4-1 record after 12 games. The Brewers won the championship in 2017. Previously they had a five-year winning streak, winning the Strother Cup in seasons 2009 to 2013.
The Brewers took a break and played in another League for a few seasons before returning to the NDBL a couple of years ago.
The New Lowell Knights, who are always a strong contender, are in third place with a 7-2 record. They have only played nine games with their last outing postponed due to weather, so they still have plenty of time to move up in the ranks.
The Lisle Astros are currently in the number four spot, but they are also short on games having recorded only nine games so far. They also have a 7-2 record but drop behind New Lowell in the standings based on runs for / against.
Creemore is in fifth spot with a 6-3-2 record. They have a chance to move up as the season goes on.
In sixth place, the Clearview Orioles are on the plus side with a 6-4 record.
In the middle of the pack are Midland, Owen Sound, Barrie and Clarskburg, all trying to get on the plus side.
Mansfield and the Bolton Dodgers are struggling to win games this season.
The Orillia Majors are in the basement after losing all ten games played so far this year.
