The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is reporting that the overall risk level of COVID-19 in the region is decreasing in most categories it monitors.
At the end of the week of April 29, the Health Unit rated the overall risk level as ‘lower’. The Health Unit maintains four levels of risk: Very high, high, moderate, and lower.
The ‘lower’ rating means COVID-19 activity has decreased over the previous week.
The indicators reveal lower numbers in confirmed cases, wastewater signal, weekly percent positivity, active hospitalizations, and active outbreaks in institutional settings.
The Health Unit uses reported data to determine the current risk factor based on case, hospitalization, and outbreak counts.
Although the risk level has decreased, the Health Unit says people should review their personal and situational risks to decide how to protect themselves and others.
As your risk increases, you should add more layers of protection, including staying up to date with vaccinations, staying home if you are sick, and wearing a medical mask in indoor public places.
