A local man is planning a long-distance run/bike trip from Windsor to Ottawa to raise funds and awareness for autism.
Adam McEachern, an Alliston resident, York Region Police officer, and father of two neurodiverse children,, will be leaving Windsor on April 30, with plans to arrive in Ottawa on May 17.
The funds raised will support Kerry’s Place Autism Services in Toronto.
Local singer/songwriter Grant Boyer is providing support by allowing one of his songs to be part of the run and promotional videos.
During the run, McEachern will stop at the Adjala-Tosorontio Municipal Office on May 5, before heading into Alliston. This will provide him with one night during the run when he can lay his head on his own bed.
There will be a special fundraising dinner – Carbboost 2026 – a spaghetti dinner which is being organized by the Kiwanis Club of South Simcoe with the support of many community groups, organizations, and businesses, that will take place on May 5.
The bike run will be a 989-kilometre journey, during which Adam will run 20 to 25 kilometres and cycle 35 to 55 kilometres each day. The trip will end near the Terry Fox statue in Ottawa.
Since 2020, Adam has completed three 24-hour events and one 12-hour endurance event, raising approximately $100,000 for Kerry’s Place Autism Services, Autism Ontario, and Special Olympics Ontario.
Kerry’s Place Autism Services supports around 8,000 neurodiverse individuals across Ontario, with locations in Orangeville, Guelph, Barrie, Newmarket, and Brampton.
