Matthews House Hospice (MHH) in Alliston received a $107,000 capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation that enabled the Hospice to make necessary flooring updates to the main and lower levels of the building.
Simcoe-Grey MPP Brian Saunderson dropped by the Hospice on Thursday, Feb. 5, to see how they had used the funds to improve the facility.
“Strong communities are built on compassion, and the staff and volunteers at Matthews House Hospice exemplify that every day,” said MPP Saunderson. “This provincial investment supports practical improvements that will make a meaningful difference for everyone who walks through the door. I want to thank Margaret Bachle and the entire Matthews House team for their dedication and for the incredible work they do in supporting clients and families with dignity and care.”
Some areas of the hospice posed mobility challenges. Repairs to the main-level rooms have enhanced safety and made it easier for clients and visitors who use mobility aids to navigate the space.
“We are so appreciative and grateful to have the opportunity to receive this support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. These projects will help the hospice enhance the care and service to our clients, their family, and friends,” said Margaret Bachle, CEO of MHH.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Capital Grant streams help organizations improve their infrastructure so they can continue delivering programs and services that Ontarians need to thrive.
Whether it is purchasing equipment, building a new space or completing renovations, retrofits or repairs, these grants support projects that are making a difference.
“Whether it’s providing compassionate end-of-life care, supporting families through difficult moments, or creating a comforting and dignified environment, organizations like Matthews House Hospice deliver services that truly make a difference,” said Stan Cho, Ontario Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “That’s why grant support through the Ontario Trillium Foundation is so important. This funding will help ensure that it remains at the heart of the community for decades to come.”
Last year, the Ontario Trillium Fund invested nearly $105M into 732 community projects and multi-sector partnerships.
Projects aim to enhance economic well-being, foster more active lifestyles, support child and youth development, provide spaces for people to come together and connect, and create a more sustainable environment.
