Questions by Wendy Gabrek

Full Name: Ken Stouffer

Town of Residence: Alliston

Length of time living in Simcoe–Grey: 41 years

Primary reason you’re running: To remind the people of Simcoe-Grey that Canada’s freedom and prosperity stem directly from its Christian heritage. An eye opening and compelling read on this topic is a book called “The Book That Made Your World – How The Bible Created The Soul Of Western Civilization” by Vishal Mangalwadi. Unfortunately, we’re at the very brink of losing our freedom and prosperity, and this is because we have wandered away from the God of our forefathers and made material things our god. Until we turn back to the God of the Christian bible, life in Canada will continue to rapidly deteriorate. We have the government we deserve.  I’m here to call us to something better.

Political Experience: I’ve been interested in politics since my days at the University of Toronto where I studied political science. I served as a Director with our local federal Progressive Conservative association for a number of years, but stepped away as the party moved further and further to the left. Some may be surprised to know that although for years I considered the CHP to have by far the best policies, I hardly ever voted for them. The reason: fear of splitting the vote. Under the leadership of Erin O’Toole, however, the Conservatives have become so much like the Liberals that I can no longer vote for them. The tipping point for me was Bill C-6 (the anti-conversion therapy bill). This bill undermines parental authority and the family and promotes radical gender ideology with the force of law. Both Erin O’Toole and our local conservative MP Terry Dowdall voted with the Liberals in favour of this bill. That was it for me. It was time to jump into the CHP with both feet.

Campaign objectives: To raise awareness of our Christian Heritage and to make known the wonderfully practical policies of the CHP (e.g. end lockdowns, masking and other oppressive and harmful COVID policies; end all carbon tax; promote economic prosperity by encouraging the development of our oil and gas and other resources; promote energy self-sufficiency; follow real science, not climate alarmism; protect freedom of speech; strengthen our military; preserve the right to own firearms; implement balanced budgets, reduce government debt, etc.)

What is your leadership style and how will that positively impact the riding?

I very much enjoy meeting and talking with people, so as much as is practical I would strive to have an open-door connection with the people of the riding. The CHP wants smaller government, so I would work to get the government off the backs and out of the pockets of Simcoe-Grey residents.

What are the most important challenges facing the riding of Simcoe-Grey today?

Politically motivated, unscientific and oppressive COVID policies are killing many small businesses and the jobs they create. These policies are also harming the mental health of our children and many adults. They are also keeping people away from meeting with family and faith groups – something we all need for a healthy social and spiritual life. This state of affairs is enabled by the suppression of news that goes against the lockdown and fear mongering narrative. For example, most people have never heard of The Great Barrington Declaration. This declaration was put together by three of the world’s top medical professors – one from Oxford, one from Harvard and one from Stanford. They make the case that lockdowns do far more harm than good and their declaration has been signed by over 50,000 doctors and health care workers from around the world.  Everyone should know about this, but it is intentionally suppressed by the mainstream media. This statement will be offensive to people who only listen to mainstream media and who trust that our politicians are always working in our best interest.

What is your policy/opinion on COVID-19 passports, vaccinations?

The CHP and myself are opposed to COVID-19 passports. Any government that imposes COVID-19 passports is overstepping its rightful authority. To vaccinate or not should be left entirely up to the individual and there should be full disclosure of the known and potential unknown risks. The government has no right to coerce us into any medical procedure, let alone an experimental one that has unknown long-term consequences.

How have you seen change in the riding since COVID-19 struck?

My accountant told me recently that he has had a number of clients go bankrupt due to the governments lockdown policies. I’ve read in local news articles that mental health problems have increased significantly due to lockdowns and related policies. Also, due to a shortage of computer chips – a shortage caused at least in part by government COVID policies – some car dealerships have very little inventory of new cars. I’ve heard that Honda in Alliston has had delays in production due to these same shortages.

As it pertains to COVID-19 specifically, what can our riding do to ensure the safety of community members now, and into the future? (What has COVID-19 taught us?)  COVID-19 has exposed our gullibility. Most of us have been taken in by the media’s and the government’s exaggerated fear mongering concerning the dangers of COVID. We have been misled in many ways. COVID-19 is a real sickness but it doesn’t warrant lockdowns, masks and social distancing. We should wash our hands, practice the common sense hygiene our parents taught us, and go back to living normal lives.

As it pertains to New Tecumseth specifically, what can constituents expect under your leadership?

They can expect transparency and common sense.

What are your thoughts on the timing of this election?

Trudeau called the election for selfish reasons, but at least it gives us an opportunity to get rid of him, so for that I’m glad. Let’s not waste this opportunity.

What are your priorities for change in our riding – both in the short-term and in the long term?

In the short term I want to see oppressive COVID policies completely eliminated, along with carbon taxes.  In the long term, I want to see government interference in our lives minimized, budgets balanced, and the insane amounts of government debt paid down. If we don’t get our fiscal house in order, our children and grandchildren will end up being slaves to the international bankers who hold our debt.

What are some of the fiscal challenges facing our riding, and how can we address them?

1) Inflation is increasing rapidly. The government needs to stop printing and spending money recklessly as this is feeding inflation. 2) Trudeau’s carbon tax is driving up the cost of everything.  That tax needs to go ASAP. 3) Employers are having a hard time finding workers, e.g. Honda in Alliston. We need to stop government handouts that are keeping able-bodied people out of the work force.

Open – anything else?

A vote for the Progressive Conservative Party is a wasted vote. Erin O’Toole has been signalling all along that his policies regarding COVID (and many other things) would be much like the Liberals. For example, O’Toole recently removed promising Yukon candidate Jonas Smith from running in the upcoming election. Smith said he was told the reason for his removal was his “opposition to calls for implementation of mandated workplace vaccinations and vaccine passport requirements in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.”  In the 2019 election Mr. Smith lost to the Liberal candidate by less than 1% of the votes cast.
