The Junior Division of the North Dufferin Baseball League is wrapping up the regular season and getting ready for the playoffs.
There’s only one game left to be played, and that’s a game that was rescheduled from a rain-out out earlier in the season and won’t have an effect on the final standings.
It has been a successful season for the Junior division with a lot of good baseball played on diamonds around the region.
Some of the junior players had the opportunity to play in some senior games this season when a senior team came up with a short bench. It was good experience and provided junior players with some extra games as well as seeing what it was like to play at the senior level.
All eight teams in the division will make the playoffs this season as the head into quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a championship series for the two remaining teams who will battle it out for the Anderson Trophy.
The Orillia Royals are in the number one spot in the division with 9 wins 2 losses and a tie as of July 9.
In second place, the Caledon Nationals have also had a good year with nine wins and are just a single point behind.
The Mansfield Cubs are in the number three spot with six wins behind them.
They are followed by the Orangeville Bengals who are one point back.
The Georgina Bulldogs and Barry Baycats are in the middle of the pack in the standings followed by the Midland Twins, and the Creemore Padres who have managed only one win this season.
Once the regular season is completed, the league will announce the match-ups for the first round of playoffs as well as the playoff scheduled with dates, times, and locations.
It will be an exciting round of playoffs as teams give their best effort on the diamond in a bid to win the series and advance to the next round.
