The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has charged three individuals with multiple weapons and drug offences after executing search warrants.
The Nottawasaga OPP Community Street Crime Unit initiated a drug trafficking investigation in August 2024.
Search warrants were executed on three residents on Oct. 3, at approximately 11:40 a.m. in Barrie, Essa Township, and Tay Township.
The warrants were executed with assistance from members of the OPP Nottawasaga Crime Reduction Unit, Huronia West Detachment, Collingwood and Blue Mountains Detachment, Orillia Detachment, Southern Georgina Bay CSCU, and the Muskoka Crime Unit.
As a result of the investigation, three individuals were arrested and several items were seized. The seized items include 121 grams of cocaine, three imitation handguns, switch blade knife, drug trafficking paraphernalia, 494 pieces of ammunition (blanks), approximately $5,000 in Canadian currency, jewelry valued at approximately $20,000, unmarked cigarettes, and vehicles related to the offence. There were also six rifles seized, all pellet guns or airsoft.
Christopher Wice of Angus, 42, was charged with: Traffick in Schedule 1 substance – cocaine, possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000 – two counts, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition and possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose – four counts.
Joshua Kujansuu, 38, from Barrie was charged with: Traffick in Schedule I substance – cocaine, possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose, fail to comply with probation order – four counts, have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available. and possession of unmarked cigarettes.
Christopher Russell, 42, from Angus, was charged with: Traffick in Schedule I substance – cocaine, possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine and possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose – four counts.
Wice, Kujansuu and Russell were held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie.
None of the listed charges have been proven in court.
