Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), assisted members of the West Parry Sound Detachment, OPP regarding a theft investigation which occurred in their area.
On Friday, July 29 at approximately 2 p.m., an ATM machine, located in a gas service station, just north of Parry Sound, was damaged and a large sum of money removed. Evidence at the scene led investigators to identify the motorcycle riders as members of the Outlaw Motorcycle Club. It was also determined that these riders were en route to the Alliston area to attend a mandatory national gathering. These particular members were from Sudbury and Regina.
The motorcycle riders were located on the 3rd Line of Essa Township, where they were stopped, positively identified and placed under arrest.
Subsequent investigation led officers to execute search warrants at an address in Alliston. As a result of the search warrant, one loaded firearm, 2 switch blades, and two retractable batons, (similar to those used by police services) were seized. Eight males and one female, ranging in age from 23 to 56 years of age, were charged with Theft Over $5,000, Mischief Over $5,000. Charges regarding the firearm and other weapons is pending.
This gathering was monitored over the weekend by members of the Nottawasaga OPP and members of the OPP Biker Enforcement Unit (BEU).
