County of Simcoe Paramedic Services (CSPS) recently hosted its annual Commencement and Honours Ceremony dedicated to celebrating the achievements and milestones of its team members.
The ceremony welcomed 33 new recruits, recognized 29 employees advancing in their careers, and honoured seven individuals receiving Chief’s Commendations for outstanding service.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of the Legacy Award. This is CSPS’s highest internal honour.
It was presented to Advanced Care Paramedic Cory Schepers in recognition of exceptional talent, dedication, and commitment.
“It takes a remarkable person to be a paramedic, showing up for others in their most vulnerable moments, often on their hardest days,” said Simcoe County Warden Basil Clarke. “Their work is physically and mentally demanding, requiring quick thinking, adaptability, and above all, deep compassion and resilience. Each Paramedic celebrated embodies these qualities and we are grateful that they have chosen to serve our residents, visitors and communities.”
CSPS employs a diverse team of full and part-time Advanced and Primary Care Paramedics, Supervisors, and administrative staff. Together, they provide emergency medical response and vital community support to residents across Simcoe County, operating 42 ambulances and Rapid Response Units during peak times.
“Every day, our team steps forward with courage, compassion, and skill to serve the people of Simcoe County in their moments of greatest need,” Said Sarah Mills, director and chief of the County of Simcoe Paramedic Services. “I am incredibly proud of the dedication our paramedics show, not only in emergencies but also in the countless ways they support and strengthen our communities. Their commitment reflects the very best of public service, and it is a true honour to celebrate their achievements.”
