Residents, schools, and businesses from across Simcoe County showed their holiday spirit by donating 7,781 toys, 22,771 lbs of food, and $21,265.65 in cash and gift cards to the 22nd Annual County of Simcoe Paramedic Services Food and Toy Drive.

All donations will continue to be distributed to local children and families in need by charitable organizations working in partnership with the County of Simcoe Paramedic Services.

“On behalf of our entire region I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to each of you who contributed to supporting those in need this holiday season,” said Simcoe County Warden Basil Clark. “Your generosity has made a lasting impact, providing hope and joy to countless families in need across Simcoe County. It’s been said that no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted and I truly believe that it’s through your support we continue building up the bonds of our community, creating a brighter future for all.”

Some of the charities supported by the County of Simcoe Paramedic Services Food and Toy Drive include the Salvation Army, Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions, Barrie Christmas Cheer, Kinette Club of Wasaga Beach, Georgian Bay Food Network, Christmas in a Box, Innisfil Christmas for Kids. Food banks in several communities also benefitted, including Alliston, Angus, Bradford, Clearview, Coldwater, Elmvale, Tottenham, Orillia and Wasaga Beach.

“It’s my honour to acknowledge the efforts of all the dedicated paramedics and volunteers who gave their time and energy to make the 22nd Annual County of Simcoe Paramedic Services Food and Toy Drive such a tremendous success,” said Sarah Mills, director and chief of the County of Simcoe Paramedic Services. “Their selflessness and hard work have made an incredible difference in the lives of those in need. We also want to express our sincere gratitude to the entire community for continuing to show up for your neighbours, helping to bring joy and hope to those who need it most.”
