IMPAIRED DRIVING
Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 89, Adjala-Tosorontio, which resulted in an arrest.
“On Monday, September 19, 2022, at approximately 3:45 p.m. police responded to a traffic complaint reported by a concerned citizen,” say Police.
As a result of the investigation, 41-year-old, Saajida Abdullah Muhammad of Toronto was arrested and charged with the following:
Operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on October 13, 2022.
The charges have not been proven.
“Everyone has a role to play in keeping our roads safe,” say Police. “If you plan on drinking, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture. Citizens are also encouraged to call police if they suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs. These measures can go a long way in keeping impaired drivers off our roads.
ROMANCE SCAM
Members of the Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police have made an arrest in relation to a romance fraud. Police are looking for assistance to identify another person of interest.
“In March 2020, Frontenac OPP began an investigation regarding a romance fraud that had occurred between January and March,” say Police. “The victim was defrauded of over $70,000 after interacting with an unknown person online.
“On August 19, 2022, members of the Frontenac Detachment Crime Unit made an arrest in connection to the fraud.”
Lisa McLean, 44, from Toronto has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:
Fraud under $5000 – CC 380(1)(b)
Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 – CC 354(1)(a)
Police are seeking assistance from the public to identify the person pictured in here.

SKYDIVING FATALITY
The South Simcoe Police Service is issuing a renewed appeal for information following the death of a Toronto-area woman in a skydiving incident in the Town of Innisfil.
“Police are confirming 21-year-old Tania Pardazi Moghaddam of Richmond Hill was killed,” say Police. “On Saturday, August 27, 2022, at approximately 5:40 p.m., the South Simcoe Police Service, Innisfil Fire and Rescue Service and County of Simcoe Paramedic Services responded to a skydiving incident in the area of 10 Sideroad and Line 4. Pardazi Moghaddam was critically injured after jumping from a plane operating out of a local skydiving club. She was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.”
The investigation into her death is ongoing in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.
