Potato Festival’s new Just Sing competition looking for talented youth

March 17, 2022   ·   0 Comments

The Alliston Potato Festival is on again this year, and to celebrate the return of the popular event, organizers have added a new competition to this year’s line-up.

The Festival has not taken place for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it is returning this summer with a full line-up of activities, including the parade and all the Saturday and Sunday events that people enjoy every year.

New this year, will be the Just Sing competition.

The competition is open to residents of South Simcoe between the ages of nine and 14.

If you have the talent and like to perform, this may be the chance to get up on stage and show the world what you can do.

Not everyone will make it to the final stage. There will be an audition process prior to the festival and elimination rounds to determine who the finalists will be.

Auditions will be held on March 30, and 31. The auditions will be open to the first 50 applicants, so if you want to enter, don’t wait to fill in your application.

Applications must be submitted by 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 25, and there is a $10 registration fee.

From the original 50, there will be 15 applicants chosen by a panel of judges.

Over the next month, those 15 who are chosen will go through an elimination round.

Of those 15, there will be four chosen to be finalists who will appear at the Alliston Potato Festival and perform live on stage.

After the live performances, the judges will declare a champion.

You can register for the Just Sing competition on the Festival’s website at www.allistonpotatofestival.com.

The Alliston Potato Festival will take place from August 5 to 7 this summer.
