It is a big part of the Alliston Potato Festival that many local residents look forward to every year.
The St. John’s United Church potato pancake breakfast is a staple of the annual festival, and this was the church’s 49th year hosting the breakfast.
The weather turned out to be perfect for the event. Although the line-up got pretty long at times, over 1,000 people turned out to enjoy pancakes. This is a huge social event for many people.
As always, a portion of the proceeds from the breakfast is given to community groups.
This year, the church donated to the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation, the Canadian Mental Health Association, The Krasman Centre, and St. John’s Benevolent Fund.
The donation occured on Oct. 8.
Organizing, preparing, and hosting the event takes a lot of volunteer hours, with many people giving their time and energy to ensure it is a success.
Organizers would like to thank all the volunteers, including 4-H Community Involvement, local area high school students, other local volunteers and church members who helped make this year’s pancake breakfast a big success.
