It was a mixed weekend for the Tottenham Railers that saw them earn a single point from an overtime loss to the Niagara Predators before taking a home-ice win over the St. George Ravens.
They travelled to Niagara-on-the-Lake for the second Friday in a row on Nov. 29 and put in a disjointed performance in a match littered with penalties.
Both teams traded the lead and the game went into overtime after the Railers tied it 5-5. It was an entertaining three-on-three OT with the Predators scoring with five seconds left on the clock. The Railers brought home a single point for the OT loss.
Aimy Royer scored two goals and added two assists for a four-point night.
On Saturday, Nov. 30, the St. George Ravens came to town. The Railers jumped to an early lead and were up 4-1 after the first period.
Despite trading goals, the Railers’ lead proved to be enough and they left the ice with a comfortable 6-3 win in one of their best performances of the year.
Bruno Parente scored one and added five helpers to become the Railers’ all-time leading assists and points scorer with 31 assists and 50 points.
December will be a make-or-break month for the Railers.
On Tuesday, Dec. 3, and Wednesday, Dec. 4, the Greater Metro Hockey League is hosting its College Showcase in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The games played will go toward the points standings.
