It may have been a short season, but it was a successful one.
The Tottenham Titans were able to get out on the diamond this season and play a regular season. It was a short schedule this year, but the teams did put out a good effort that resulted in a successful season.
The Titans Peewee team started the season with a narrow one-point loss to the Everett Eagles.
The Titans picked up their first win of the year on July 20, with a 9-6 home diamond win over the Bradford Storm #2 team.
They picked up their second win of the season on August 2, with a well played offensive effort against the Bradford Storm that resulted in an 11-8 win.
The team struggled to get on the winning side for the rest of the season and finished in fifth place in the South Division with six points.
Unfortunately, the Peewees didn’t secure a playoff berth for this season.
The Titans Midget U18 team had a successful season that saw them go undefeated in their first eight games on a stellar run that put them in first place overall.
They took their first loss on August 16, against the Midland Twins.
A 7-3 loss to Orillia on August 18, gave the Midgets an 8-0 record for the season and landed them in first place with 16 points – two points ahead of the Ivy Leafs and six points ahead of the Orillia Royals and Midland Twins.
With the short season, the League decided to hold the playoffs in a two-day tournament-style event. While baseball playoffs usually take the form of a series, the tournament was a one-loss elimination event held at Tiffin Park in Midland, on Friday, August 27, and Saturday, August 28.
The Titans were eliminated from competition when they lost 6-2 in their first game to Orillia on Saturday.
The underdog Barrie Baycats managed to win both of their games in the tournament to claim the 2021 YSBA ‘A’ midget championship with the Ivy Leafs taking the ‘B’ pool championship.
